I'm rather fond of "simple" gifts.
Because, of all I've found,
'Tis simple things in Life that lifts
Your spirits when you're down.

Among the rest the simplest one
Is special, I believe.
A gift that seldom is outdone,
When given, or received!

It's ready-made and close at hand,
And needs no batteries;
Cannot be wrapped or boxed or canned,
And has no warranties.

This simple gift comes in one size
That fits both large and small.
It can't be worn in any guise,
Yet warms the hearts of all.

A special gift that's seldom spurned,
It can't be bought, you see;
And often it will be returned . . .
No matter that it's free!

What is it? Well, I'll tell you then:
It's just a Hug, from me,
For each and every special friend
Whose hearts are full of glee.
