There are times in life
That one feels all alone
Like there is no life to live
And also there's no home
Just a heart that beats
Within the body of you
Just one more eternal breath
Seems all that you can do
You do not see the sunshine
You cannot feel the rain
You cannot see the moonlight
Or the snow on window pane

You do not hear the birds
As they sing from yonder nest
Trying one to outdo the other
Just to see who can sing best
You do not hear the baby's cries
Nor the ringing of the phone
All you really feel at all
Is ~ you know you are alone
No phone calls to answer
No knocks upon the door
Everything is in its place
Nothing scattered on the floor

A very sterile atmosphere
Is the place that you don't
leave
For out there in that open space
Are those who make you grieve
When you go to bed at night
You wonder if comes the morning
And should you just pass away
There'd be none to do the
mourning
No friends, no family, no pets
Just time is all there is
One day becomes another
For that is the way you live

You do wake up - it's morning
So you will see another day
Teardrops stream from swollen
eyes
For you can't keep them away
For the moment you have given in
Remembering way back when
Life was so different
Uncluttered, mastered, blend
But now you know this life
Is but bare existence
And all that makes you yourself
Seems to be lost in distance

Perhaps today will be the day
You'll remember and you'll go
Down the steps to yonder
Where the wild flowers grow
You take a breath and realize
That even the skies are blue
Seems like there is a glimmer
Within the soul of you
Slowly walking to the brook
Where once you went to play
Watching clouds on high
And just lingering in the day

Days when you had parents
And siblings would be there
You would be going someplace
And what would you choose to
wear
Memories, oh memories
They fill this lonely breast
As once again you remember
Those times then were the best
You turn and wander back
To the place you live once more
Somehow your feeling lonelier
Than you ever did before

It's been so long that even
you
Cannot remember when nor why
You linger by the window there
To watch for fireflies
Another day, another night
Not long in the scheme of things
Perhaps you'll find your life
again
Be it only in your dreams
