~ Just An Old
Wooden Cart ~

It was just an old wooden cart,
Abandoned by the way,
When the old man came upon it,
His mind went back to yesterday.

One time that old cart was
useful,
Oh, that he remembered well,
He could still hear his
children's laughter,
As they rode it behind 'Old
Nell'.

Why, many a time he used that
cart,
To load it up with hay,
But now time had taken its toll,
And they had both seen a better
day.

Soon the years slipped quickly
by,
Now he was on his own,
Just like that cart sitting
there,
He felt so useless and alone.

It was just an old wooden cart,
Abandoned by the way,
The man stood there and shed a
tear,
Before he sadly walked away.
