How could we have known it would be so soon?
Were we all blinded by the light?
She was like a wisp of the wind
She was like God’s breath in the night.



Her smile was so free we should have known
That she was too good to keep.
God called her home as we stood and watched
The angels take her away in her sleep.



She will always be right here in our hearts
So close that we feel her touch.
Her face and her smile will ever live on
We love her and miss her so much.



So God, we release her into Your arms
And we give You thanks on this day,
That You gave her to us, a treasure so pure,
We’ll see her again one day.



So, hold her for us inside of Your arms
And please don’t make us wait long,
Till You come to claim us and take us all home.
Until then, please help us be strong.



Thank You for lending her to us for a while,
Her light shined bright every day.
As we look up into the Heavens tonight
We know that her smile lights our way.



How could we have known it would be so soon?
She was just like a star shining bright.
You made her special and we know she’s glad
That she’s “Home” in Heaven tonight.
