~* Old Covered Bridge *~

The old covered bridge over Pinewood Creek
Standing as it did many years ago
Was a shelter for traveler and horse
Out of the rain and falling snow.

Mule drawn wagons clopped along
Across the wooden planks
This old bridge saw many happy sights
As the creek rolled between its banks.

Birds building nests in the old beams
In the covered bridge over the stream
And echoes of hooves crossing above
Make it seem like a wonderful dream.

The old covered bridge has had its day
Replaced by concrete and steel
The memory of the old covered bridge
To the folks of old is very real.
