An Autumn Thief ~
The trees seem to be crying
Each leaf represents a tear
Creating a pool on the ground
This happens every year.
The wind swirls the "tears" around
Creating a small eddy
It's then you can hear the trees moan
Telling us to prepare and be ready.
An autumn rain tickles the trees
Causing so many leaves to fall
Their beauty is being stripped away
And for a time we were enthralled.
This autumn rain is like a lover
Caressing each and every leaf
Enticing them to finally let go
The rain becomes a thief.
The trees are now naked and bare
The autumn wind and rain has ceased to
be
No longer a need to lure or entice
The leaves are gone from the trees.
